Innovative Frooom! Film Workshops for Children and Youth: Only 3 Weeks Left
The innovative Frooom! film workshops for children and youth are running for just 3 more weeks at the Dr. Ivan Merz Elementary School, F. Račkoga 4.
From the 2000-year-old first film experiments of wise Chinese to smartphones, drones, and 3D technology, all under the motto “what we don’t see when watching a film.”
How to make a film?
First, you need to hold hands. Or, you need to close your eyes first. Or, you need to do a headstand without hesitation. In any case, whispering is allowed, shouting is welcome, and knowledge of exotic dishes is mandatory. Everyone needs to jump at the same time and stay in the air for as long as possible. Serve with a smile, sprinkled with wisdom dust and unexpected. Under the motto: everything is food!

Frooom! is an innovative and exploratory educational program, process, and methodology for educating and literating children and youth in understanding, using, and creating electronic media, film media, and new hybrid media. It started in 2012 in Zagreb and is now implemented in 8 Croatian cities in cultural centers, museums, film clubs, and some elementary schools.
Frooom! is not an acronym but simply Frooom! – an onomatopoeia for the sound of something passing quickly and loudly. In a comic strip, animated film, pop-art image, or film/TV dialogue. It is (perhaps) our reality that rushes and passes by so fast. Yet, this speed, this sound, is also the atmosphere in which this innovative and exploratory school operates. It holds that media and intermedia film education for children and youth is one of the fundamental rights to literacy that children and youth (in Croatia and worldwide) need today to better understand the media and real-world environment that is offered to them daily. Moreover, we believe that a deep understanding and effective use of film media, electronic content, and new media are essential functional developmental educational processes in growing up and understanding today’s world.
