{"id":19,"date":"2017-02-23T11:10:07","date_gmt":"2017-02-23T11:10:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bacaci-sjenki.hr\/\/?p=19"},"modified":"2024-07-19T09:46:12","modified_gmt":"2024-07-19T08:46:12","slug":"hrvatski-test","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bacaci-sjenki.hr\/en\/hrvatski-test\/","title":{"rendered":"Shadow Casters in New York"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the invitation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arch.columbia.edu\/events\/494-living-memory-theater-performing-heritage-in-zagreb-and-dubrovnik\">Columbia<\/a> University in <a href=\"https:\/\/liceulice.wordpress.com\/2017\/02\/27\/bacaci-sjenki-u-njujorku\/\">New York<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/bacaci-sjenki.hr\/\/hr\/osobe\/hrvatski-sandra-uskokovic\/\">Sandra Uskokovi\u0107<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/bacaci-sjenki.hr\/\/hr\/osobe\/hrvatski-neki-izvodac\/\">Boris Baka<\/a>l presented several Shadow Casters projects (<a href=\"https:\/\/viticplese.blogspot.hr\/\">Viti\u0107 dances<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/1oHyzWCcjrs\">Father Courage<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expeditio.org\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=category&amp;id=203&amp;Itemid=427&amp;lang=en\">Urban Hum<\/a>) after participating with two lectures at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.collegeart.org\/search\/index\/?cx=000430164529334213339%3A2xwh3q2zv2o&amp;cof=FORID%3A10&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;q=Uskokovic&amp;submit=\">CAA<\/a> (College Art Association &#8211; the oldest association of American artists and art theorists).<\/p>\n<p>A collaborator of Shadow Casters on various projects (<a href=\"https:\/\/bacaci-sjenki.hr\/en\/about\/\">Shadow Casters<\/a>\/New York, 2003 &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/bacaci-sjenki.hr\/en\/projekti\/recollecting-cities-recollecting-time\/\">Recollecting Cities\/Recollecting Time<\/a>\/Zagreb, 2009), public historian and space theorist Prof. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arch.columbia.edu\/faculty\/170-christopher-neville\">Christopher Neville<\/a> invited Shadow Casters to give a lecture at Columbia University\u2019s Department of Preservation and Conservation in Avery Hall. In a two-hour lecture and subsequent discussion with the audience titled <a href=\"https:\/\/preservationalumni.org\/event-2474130\">\u201cLiving Memory Theater: Performing Heritage in Zagreb and Dubrovnik,\u201d<\/a> Shadow Casters presented projects addressing the challenges of contemporary society in preserving both tangible and intangible urban heritage, architectural and construction legacies amidst hyper-tourism and the virtualization of places\/space. Emphasis was placed on modern urban heritage, which is rapidly erased or altered due to the lack of applicable protection criteria and the slow development of methodologies, approaches, and materials that could preserve and make this modern and modernist heritage attractive to today\u2019s residents, visitors, and passersby.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, community projects such as the already renowned \u201cViti\u0107_dances\u201d and the eponymous film about the<a href=\"https:\/\/mok.hr\/kultura-i-zabava\/item\/23578-sibenski-arhitekt-ivan-vitic-bit-ce-predstavljen-u-new-yorku-zahvaljujuci-bacacima-sjenki?jtpl=0&amp;force=0\"> restoration of Viti\u0107\u2019s skyscraper<\/a> were presented.
