The distinct delineation of territories in African and Asian countries as a convergence area is significantly influenced by the foreign policy of socialist Yugoslavia guided by the idea of non-alignment. Simultaneously, it represents a dynamic platform involving diverse stakeholders in the construction market of young, newly emancipated nations, where architecture offers visions for their anticipated sovereign development from its own positions. The character of architectural practices emerging within such a concept of the Third World is therefore highly heterogeneous. Economically, this can range from projects of economic significance to entirely individual business or migratory endeavors. From the perspective of immediate working conditions, there is a pronounced contrast in project execution locations, with certain documentation being “exported” from Croatian offices, while others are developed based on years of work within the international expert community on-site. Insight into relevant African and Asian works by Croatian architects is provided through ten presentations of spatially and thematically diverse segments. The content of the exhibition setup also reflects the variability inherent in their modes of operation.<\/p>\n
The exhibition opening includes a guided tour, with a lecture also scheduled at the Faculty of Architecture in Sarajevo on December 7, 2022 (Social Context of the 20th Century: African and Asian Works by Croatian Architects).<\/p>\n
The exhibition runs from December 6, 2022, until the end of the year.
