DokuArt<\/strong> <\/a>is a festival of professional documentary films<\/strong> from Croatia, EU countries, and neighboring states, held annually in Bjelovar<\/strong>. Over 18 years, the festival has showcased 250 films from 30 countries, with 40 Croatian premieres, attracting nearly 20,000 viewers. Notable directors such as Krsto Papi\u0107, Zoran Tadi\u0107, Petar Krelja, Branko Schmidt, and Jo\u0161ko Maru\u0161i\u0107 have attended the festival.<\/p>\n

This year, Boris Bakal, the director of the documentary film “Viti\u0107 Dances,”<\/strong><\/a> will be a guest. The film had its Zagreb premiere in April 2024 and has since been featured at numerous festivals, winning several awards: Special Recognition at the 2023 Days of Croatian Film, Special Recognition for the Preservation of Memory and Cultural Heritage at the 18th Balkan New Film Festival in Stockholm (Sweden), the Grand Prize for Best Documentary at the 2024 Asian Talent International Film Festival in Ahmednagar (India), Best Documentary Award at the festival in San Antonio, Ecuador, and Best Film, Best Production, and Best Director at the London festival.<\/p>\n

The film follows a nearly 15-year-long project by Boris Bakal and the Shadow Casters<\/a><\/strong> organization, using diverse conceptual artistic methods to unite the community of co-owners in the restoration of a modernist architectural masterpiece by architect Ivo Viti\u0107.<\/p>\n
