The film \u2018Viti\u0107 Dances\u2019<\/em> will be screened in the courtyard of Pogon Jedinstvo, on Friday, August 29 at 8:30 PM. Admission is free, and no reservations are required.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2018Viti\u0107 Dances\u2019<\/em> is a film about the fight to renovate a building on Laginjina Street in Zagreb, designed by Ivo Viti\u0107<\/strong>, one of the key architects of Croatian and Yugoslav socialist modernism and the international style. This anthology modernist building becomes a metaphor for society in this \u201cstory about us, the others, and the space in between.\u201d<\/p>\n The film was shot over nearly 20 years and edited over 5 years. In a highly dynamic way, it explores the relationship between architecture and society through the example of the renovation of the residential-commercial complex designed by architect Ivo Viti\u0107 in Zagreb. As a result of the community art project of the same name by Boris Bakal and Shadow Casters (Baca\u010di sjenki<\/em>), the building was renovated between 2016 and 2018 and represents the largest investment in the residential renovation of a cultural monument in the Republic of Croatia since World War II.<\/p>\n The film premiered at the 19th ZagrebDox<\/strong> in April 2023 and has since won numerous awards: a Special Mention<\/strong> at Days of Croatian Film 2023<\/strong>, a Special Recognition for the Preservation of Memory and Cultural Heritage<\/strong> at the 18th Balkan New Film Festival<\/strong> in Stockholm (Sweden), the Grand Prize for Best Documentary<\/strong> at the Asian Talent International Film Festival 2024<\/strong> in Ahmednagar (India), Best Documentary<\/strong> at the festival in Ecuador<\/strong> (San Antonio), Best Film<\/strong>, Best Production<\/strong>, and Best Director<\/strong> awards at a festival in London<\/strong>, as well as the Grand Prix<\/strong> at the festival in Romania<\/strong> (Rasnov).<\/p>\n Director<\/strong>: Boris Bakal The film was produced by the Multimedia Arts Organization Shadow Casters<\/em>, in coproduction with Croatian Radiotelevision<\/em>, and co-financed by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre<\/em>, the City of Zagreb<\/em>, and the MEDIA Sub-programme<\/em> within the Creative Europe<\/em> programme.<\/p>\n <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The film \u2018Viti\u0107 Dances\u2019 will be screened in the courtyard of Pogon Jedinstvo, on Friday, August 29 at 8:30 PM.
