We learn through play, specifically about shots, frames, film genres, how to write a screenplay, and we delve into basic stop-motion animation to understand the role and importance of editing. We play with everything that has made filmmaking possible: from Chinese zoetropes, mannerist optical experiments, to French parksiscopes, camera obscura, analog film tapes, drones, videophony, television, smartphones, and computer games. All through play and collaboration!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Description of the advanced Frooom! workshop:<\/strong><br \/>\nIn the advanced workshop, participants revisit everything they learned in the beginner workshop and connect their film and media experiences encountered in the meantime. Together with other participants and instructors, they develop stories which they then translate into short documentaries, narrative, or experimental films. Throughout the workshop, they also have the option to use smartphones and iPads to film short stop-motion films of everything happening around them &#8211; the making-of Frooom!. They exchange and advocate for their stories and screenplays, and finally, after production preparations, screenplay development into a shooting script, location scouting, and casting of performers\/main characters (film themes), they film and prepare it for editing.
