Frooom! Film School Has Completed Part of Its Summer ‘Tour’ — Here’s How It Went

Written by on 2025-07-21

The workshops in Zagreb and Koprivnica kicked off our summer activities, and in the very first and second weeks of the school holidays, we already had several fully booked sessions. Over two weeks, we held three beginner and advanced workshops, as well as three masterclasses. All were extremely successful, and all participants rightfully went home with their diplomas.

We’re expecting a similar turnout for the upcoming workshops in Zagreb and Rijeka this August.

Due to the large number of participants, Frooom! Film School in Split had two “classes” that overlapped in play and parts of the lessons. Altogether — in between playing, having fun, eating, wandering, and learning — they managed to film as many as eight workshop films, which are now heading into post-production and distribution.

Numerous Croatian and international films were watched and analyzed, including My Life as a Zucchini, Babajanja, Then I See Tanja, Kekec, Phantom Boy, Peter and the Wolf, The Red Balloon, Rover the Rescuer, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and others. A special screening on Wednesday, thanks to the Cined program, featured Fear Eats the Soul by R.W. Fassbinder for the older participants.

Many thanks to our participants — and just as importantly, to the wonderful group of parents, relatives, and siblings who visited us on the final days of the workshops. Thank you for your trust, enthusiasm, and for celebrating the success and joy of your children — and of others’ children too.

A huge thank you to our amazing instructors in Zagreb (Bojana Burnać, Lucija Kovačević, Marta Lončar, Velimir Grgić, Boris Vuković, Jadran Boban, Sara Terzić, Pavle Perković, Anton Mezulić, Dora Borecki, Nikola Strašek, Nina Sorić, Paula Skelin), Koprivnica (Pavle Perković, Mateja Ilijašev, Dubravka Kurobasa, Ivan Ivanović), and Split (Nada Kovačević, Paula Skelin, Siniša Jakovčević, Bojana Burnać, and Boris Bakal).

We also want to thank our fantastic partners: the Multimedia Cultural Center (MKC) in Split for their full support and excellent cooperation, as well as Dr. Ivan Merz Primary School, the Koprivnica Open University, Children’s House – a center for children’s culture and arts, Rijeka City Library – Art Quarter “Benčić”, the Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC), Kultura Nova Foundation, National Foundation for Civil Society Development, and the cities of Zagreb, Koprivnica, Split, and Rijeka; Primorje-Gorski Kotar County; the Agency for Electronic Media; and the Croatian Film Directors’ Guild.
