On October 28, 2020, a project funded by the Operational Program “Efficient Human Resources 2014-2020” of the European Social Fund began. The thematic network “Media Education is Important.MEI” will, through various implementation activities of 11 partner organizations, contribute to networked actions in the field of media literacy.
The overall goal of this thematic network is to strengthen the capacities of civil society organizations for effective dialogue with public administration, social partners, and higher education and research institutions in shaping and implementing reforms related to the development of media literacy as the literacy of the new era.
The project contributes to networked actions for media literacy and includes: public opinion research and needs assessments, scientific research on media literacy and its impacts on social inclusion and participation, social impact analyses, and the implementation of structured dialogues with decision-makers to develop guidelines for public policies in the field of media literacy.
All partners have experience in managing EU projects and implementing media literacy programs, as well as experience in mutual cooperation, but through the thematic network, they will develop long-term synergistic actions, with planned additional network expansion and cooperation with other organizations, institutions, and social partners.
The target group of the network is primarily young people and those who work with young people (teachers, educators, and trainers), but also all citizens, public officials in administration and public institutions (teachers), primarily those in culture and education, and decision-makers at local, regional, and national levels.
The total value of the project is 2,975,852.47 HRK, of which 85 percent is funded by the European Union from the European Social Fund, and 15 percent from the State Budget of the Republic of Croatia. The project lasts 34 months.
