FROOOM! & CinEd: screening of the short film “Is There Hope for Us?”

Written by on 2025-03-17

On Saturday, the short film “Is There Hope for Us?” was screened at Dokukino KIC (Preradovićeva 5). The screening was followed by a conversation with the workshop participants and the mentors.

The Combat Cinema: Film and Resistance workshop was held from February 24 to 28, 2025, as part of the CinEd project and the Frooom! film school, in collaboration with Dokukino KIC and Cinema Unseen. The workshop was intended for young people aged 14 to 19.

Over the course of five days, participants, under the mentorship of film author and dramaturge Karla Crnčević and film critic and curator Dina Pokrajac, explored the history of subversive and politically engaged cinema, watched and discussed films from the Third Cinema, considered what the concept of resistance means to them, and gathered materials (texts, photographs, newspaper articles, videos) to create their own short film while learning to work as a collective.

The workshop participants are:

  • Petra Biršić
  • Dora Pecigoš
  • Mak Ratković Rajhvajn
  • Ozren Stojsavljević
  • Sunčica Škornjak

See how it went in the gallery.

The workshop and screening were organized by the Shadow Casters Association, with funding from the Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC) and the City of Zagreb – City Office for Culture and Civil Society.
