Frooom!: Films “Anka and Dominik – Space Friends” and “Eco-Squad” Win Awards at the Enimation Festival in Maribor

Anka and Dominik – Space Friends, a film by our Frooom participants, won second place in the Mini International category, while the film Eco-Squad won the Audience Award in the Taking Care category.

At the Enimation Festival, animated, feature, documentary, and experimental films are showcased. The festival also includes competitive and non-competitive film programs, various workshops, and other educational content complementing the screenings. Special emphasis is placed on school groups, as the festival offers children and young people the opportunity to watch selected films created by their peers from around the world.

The recognition for the film Anka and Dominik – Space Friends goes to our participants Laura Kunda Gustavsson (as Anka), Lun Blečić (as Dominik), Neva Šakan, Vida Šakan, Anja Peloza, Nina Janežić, Laura Stanišić, Bruna Čepulo, Mia Vukanović, Dominik Velčić, Borna Janežić, Marul Lerga, and their mentor, filmmaker and educator Veno Mušinović.

This isn’t the first recognition for Anka and Dominik. In 2024, the film achieved this success and has been invited or already screened at the following film festivals:

2. MICE, Valencia (Spain) – October 13, 2024 – Main Competition
3. FIFES Comedy Film Festival (Luka, Croatia) – September 27, 2024 – Main Competition
4. Fresh International Film Festival (Limerick, United Kingdom) – April 15, 2024 – Main Competition
5. KIDS FIRST! Film Festival (Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA) – March 1, 2024 – Main Competition

In 2023, the film Anka and Dominik – Space Friends won the Grand Prize for Best Children’s Film at the Kookai Film Festival in India and also won at the Children’s International Film Festival of Wales in the Young Filmmakers Under 18 category.

Additionally, the film was previously screened in San Francisco, where it impressed audiences.

The recognition for the film Eco-Squad goes to participants Linda Terek, Ivano Peić, Viktor Horvat, Andro Glavica, Ana Suhanj, Mima Maričić, Amadea Filipović, Lara Brcković, Bruno Šoštarić, Nikolina Podnar, Marta Žužul, Bruno Horvat, and their mentors Mirna Ostrošić, Matej Beluhan, and Mia Maros Živković.
