Selector Igor Ružić has chosen “Battle on the Neretva” as one of the 10 productions in the official program of the 27th Marulić Days. The performance will be presented on April 24, 2017, at 7:00 PM at the Multimedia Cultural Center in Split.
“Instead of endless and ultimately fruitless debates on historical topics that shape our present, Boris Bakal’s new production seemingly calls for withdrawal, but this is merely a ruse. As always in his authorial work, it is a strategic game with multiple exits and only one true combination. Simultaneously a satirical reflection and a call for the ‘end of history,’ ‘Battle on the Neretva’ is both a farce of autobiography and a grotesque portrayal of the moment we live in, even though that moment has been ongoing for decades, if not centuries. Essentially, Boris Bakal invokes a return to self-created identity through original thought, rather than through imitation and repetition.”
