Frooom! & ‘Battle of Neretva’ in Armenia

Written by on 2017-06-08

This late spring, Shadow Casters once again visited Armenia, where they held a workshop in Yerevan on “spatial-temporal discontinuity, death, and radical artistic practices.” The workshop engaged around ten choreographers, dancers, visual and media artists, and cultural theorists.

In addition, they presented their media and film literacy program at the TUMO technological educational center for children and youth. Following this, their legendary performance “Battle of Neretva” was staged at the Studio 20 performing arts venue. The play was performed in English, and after the show, more than 50 audience members had the opportunity to ask Leo Vukelić and Boris Bakal about the purpose and goals of the project, the methodology used in its creation, and to discuss their views and connections with the current politics and history of Armenia, the Soviet Union, and the Caucasus region.
