Film about the Film O3 – February 1st at 5 PM”

Written by on 2019-01-31

We invite you to a club screening as part of the “Film about the Film” program on Friday, February 1st, at the Pogon – Center for Independent Culture and Youth, starting at 5 PM.

Location: Pogon, Mislavova 11, Zagreb
Date: Friday, February 1st, 2019
Time: 5 PM – 8 PM

The film we will be watching this time is a magical cinematic drama with a complex plot. It didn’t win any Oscars because it wasn’t nominated for any, but it has received over 29 prestigious international awards and recognitions, and was nominated for 70 more. Its director has won over 25 major international awards and recognitions, and besides directing, he is also successful in film criticism. His debut film, made at the age of 24, swept most of the major world festivals and received prestigious awards at some. After the setback of his third film, the director withdrew into seclusion/meditation/preparation for 8 years, and the result is this film, which premiered in Zagreb on September 25, 2012, almost 4 months after its world premiere.

This film may be a fantastic love drama (like almost all of the director’s films), but it primarily deals with excellence, not only in the film industry but in life in general. The film is almost impossible to grasp as a whole, but it can be understood as a series of fragments of reality in which “excellence” becomes imperative and “success” a doctrine.
The film we will be showing you is not “Pan’s Labyrinth,” which we would also like to share with you someday.

The sky’s the limit.
