What: Twisted Performance – a public event on storytelling using the example of a fairy tale.
When: Monday, January 15, 2024, at 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM
How: This performance and installation are organized in two parts: the first up to 40 minutes + the second up to 30 minutes (with a short break)
Where: Youth Center Ribnjak – Park Ribnjak 1, 10000, Zagreb
Participation: Free, but please RSVP (number and age of participants) at info@bacaci-sjenki.hr
In the first part of this performance, Shadow Casters use and demonstrate their experiences in participatory theater and storytelling from various perspectives. This event is interactive and sensory, and children/youth (from 8 to 80 years old) and playful adults can participate in certain parts.
Have you ever wondered what happens when Hansel and Gretel end up in a correctional facility, or when Little Red Riding Hood is chased by a wolf on a motorcycle, or when Cinderella dances with a wooden leg and becomes the star of the evening? Strap in, because you’re about to embark on a journey into a world where classic fairy tales take on a contemporary twist, sparking conversations about diversity, fairness, and what is good.
In this event, we use excerpts from our TwistedTales audio book project, sound effects coupled with relational and participatory sensory play, and light design, creating a new audio-visual experience together with the audience.
Access to the performance space is only granted after receiving special instructions and props.
In the second part of the performance (after a short break), the audience, children, youth, and their guests will be guided in a workshop to create their own story. They will also have the opportunity to learn about our mobile application, where they can record and share these new stories with others.
Our team will present the application, and you will be able to access it via QR code or download it directly to your mobile phones. For this part of the performance, you will need your mobile phones. If you don’t have them with you, you can use some of the phones/tablets prepared in our space.
The performance space is accessible to wheelchair users.
