New Performance of the Play Kazačok

On Friday, May 30, 2021, we premiered the play “Kazačok,” featuring over 30 participants!

A new performance will take place on June 10, and the play will be presented in the form of a Zoom meeting with limited duration starting at 8:00 PM.

“Kazačok” is a new theatrical/participatory project by Bacači Sjenki, continuing their well-established practice of creating documentary and dramaturgically unexpected performance works – starting from a theme, space, story, or issue.

“Kazačok” is a relational (fundamentally concerned with creating relationships and their consequences in real time), documentary (using documentary elements in its performance), theatrical (after all, it is a work of performing arts!), and intermedial (employing multiple expressive languages) exploration. Thematically, it focuses on the period following World War I, when around 30,000 refugees from imperial Russia arrived in Croatia (within the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes), leaving an indelible mark on the science, politics, culture, arts, technology, and economy of Croatia.

It is almost impossible to imagine the history of this region without Georgij Paro, Boris Bućan, Anatolij Kudrjavcev, Goran Golovko, Aleksandar Gerasimov, Olga Solovjeva, Žorž Skirigin, Sergej Saltikov, Viktor Ostrovidov, Zoja Petrovna Dumenjić Nepanina, Ivan Plotnikov, Sergej Mironovič Golovčenko, Aleksej Vasiljevič Hanzen, Boris Apsen, Predrag Matvejević, Boris Papandopulo, Aleksandar Fjodorovič Stasenko, Marija Nablocka, and many other less visible figures who intertwined with the fabric of our society and became part of its everyday life.
