Kazachok is a relational (one that deals with relationships), documentary (one that uses documentary elements in its performance), theatrical (after all, it is a work of performing arts!), and intermedial (uses multiple modes of expression) exploration, which content-wise emphasizes the period after the First World War when about 30,000 refugees from Imperial Russia arrived in Croatia (within the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes). This, by today’s standards, incredibly large number of people was accepted by the ports of Cavtat, Dubrovnik, and Bakar (to the greatest extent), and a large number of these “refugees” stayed in Croatia, leaving an indelible mark on the science, culture, history, and social dynamics of the Republic of Croatia. But we will not reveal the plot of the play itself; that is a surprise! We will only say that it deals with exile, identity, lostness, and the relationship between the past and the present, and maybe even the future.
Register at: samonebonamjegranica@gmail.com with the note “audience” and the day you want to attend (you can choose both!) – on Monday and Tuesday, we will send you the link for the performance during the day.
In this unique version of the play, in addition to the audience, members of the Shadow Casters association will also participate.
Support for the Shadow Casters: The Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, the National Foundation for Civil Society Development, the Kultura Nova Foundation, the Creative Europe Program – MEDIA sub-program, HAVC, AEM, HDFR, and others.
