Audition for the audience in the play “Kazačok”

“Kazačok” is a new theatrical/participatory project by Shadow Casters that continues their well-defined theater practice of creating documentary and dramaturgically unexpected performance works – starting from a theme, space, story, or issue.

“Kazačok” is a relational, documentary-theatrical, and intermedial exploration that emphasizes the period following World War I, when approximately 30,000 refugees from Imperial Russia arrived in Croatia (within the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes). These refugees were primarily accepted in the ports of Cavtat, Dubrovnik, and Bakar, leaving an indelible mark on the science, culture, history, and social dynamics of Croatia.

We hereby invite potential participants of this discursive and participatory performance to apply for the Audition, through which we will select the best audience.

The performance is envisioned as an online performance journey/lecture and participatory game via the Zoom platform with limited duration.

The Audition will be held on Zoom at the following times:

• Saturday, May 22nd: from 2 PM to 7 PM Sunday
• May 23rd: from 2 PM to 7 PM Monday
• May 24th: from 2 PM to 7 PM Thursday
• May 27th: from 2 PM to 7 PM

In your application, please provide only your name and surname (real or fake, play along) and specify the day and time that best suits you for the audition. It will be a pleasant conversation with Boris Bakal about the theme of the performance, specifically about refugees, identity, loss, the relationship between past and present, and similar topics. After confirming your interest, we will send you the Zoom audition link, and later the link for the performance itself.

The premiere of the performance event “Kazačok” will take place on Friday, May 28th at 8 PM on Zoom for the top 30 participants/audience.

The performance is part of the “Sve-jedno 20” program celebrating the twentieth anniversary of Bacači Sjenki.
