On Friday, November 15, Boris Bakal will present his documentary film “Vitić Dances” to the Novi Sad audience. The program begins at 6:30 PM at the Amphitheater at Spens, followed by a conversation with the director.
“Vitić Dances” is a film about the fight to restore a building on Laginjina Street in Zagreb, designed by Ivo Vitić, one of the key Yugoslav architects. This iconic modernist building becomes a metaphor for society in this “story about us, others, and the space in between.”
The film has so far been shown at numerous film festivals, including the Biografilm Festival in Bologna, the Lund Architecture Festival in Sweden, the Cuzco Underground Cinema Festival in Peru, the History and Film Festival in Rasnov, the Cine Del Mar Film Festival in Uruguay, the Venice Architecture Film Festival, and many others. We are proud and delighted that this story of restoring a modernist architectural masterpiece by architect Ivo Vitić is being shown to an international audience.
Boris will be hosted in Novi Sad by the architecture association BAZA – Platform for Spatial Practices as part of their ongoing project Future Modernities, which aims to explore future modernities of the city through various educational formats, highlighting the potential of interdisciplinary thinking and engagement with space.
BAZA – Platform for Spatial Practices (Novi Sad, Serbia) is an organization focused on creative research of urban space, both past and present, with the goal of creating strategic narratives for new urban development in the context of contemporary society and technology.
