This Monday, October 7th, the Croatian CinEd project coordinator, Ivana Šešlek, will present the project and platform in Macedonia at the Giffoni Macedonia Youth Film Festival during the EDU CUTS TALKS program. The festival is being held at the Youth Cultural Center in Skopje.

Giffoni Macedonia is the regional hub for the largest cultural event for young people, the Giffoni Film Festival. The main goals of this festival are to contribute to the growth and social development of young generations; actively unite and engage young audiences through unique experiences; enrich children’s knowledge of European stories, countries, nationalities, cultures, and societies through film; expand the experience and education of children and youth through active participation in educational platforms within the festival; promote multicultural communication and exchange among children, and offer a cultural product that combines a film program and educational platform (workshops, masterclasses, etc.).

CinEd is a European program for film literacy aimed at children, youth, as well as teachers and educators working with them, currently involving 13 countries. In CinEd, we take a more theoretical approach to film; we discuss the context in which the films we watch were made, film techniques, genres, the themes addressed, and how they are presented. We connect this to other disciplines and everyday life, critically thinking about the film, thereby learning how to “see” – as Ivana explained in a recent in-depth interview we conducted to introduce the public to this significant project.
