“Anka and Dominik – Space Friends,” a film made by our Frooom! participants, has been selected for screening at the Sofia World Film Festival in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The Sofia International Film Festival is the leading film festival in Bulgaria. Launched in 1997, it attracts over 70,000 viewers annually. The festival aims to promote important and innovative works of modern world cinema to local audiences, as well as regional Bulgarian and Balkan cinema to international audiences, while encouraging cooperation between local and international filmmakers.
The film “Anka and Dominik – Space Friends” by our Frooom! participants will be shown at this festival on April 5th. It is a short film shot in Rijeka in 2023 during an advanced Frooom! film workshop, depicting a girl named Anka who struggles to fit in with her schoolmates, which leads her to meet Dominik, her new but unusual friend.
This recognition is thanks to our participants Laura Kunda Gustavsson (as Anka), Lun Blečić (as Dominik), Neva Šakan, Vida Šakan, Anja Peloza, Nina Janežić, Laura Stanišić, Bruna Čepulo, Mia Vukanović, Dominik Velčić, Borna Janežić, Marul Lerga, and their mentor, filmmaker and educator, Veno Mušinović.
This is not the first recognition for “Anka and Dominik.” In fact, the film achieved this success in 2024 and has been invited or already screened at the following film festivals:
