FROOOM!: “Monster Mobiles” has been invited to the 62nd Festival of Croatian Children’s Film Creation

The 62nd Festival of Croatian Children’s Film Creation and the 12th Review of Croatian School Film are approaching, and we are proud that our Frooom team’s film has been included in this year’s competition program where it will be supported and presented by the head of Frooom!, Mia Maros Živković, and one of the actors and authors of the film, Tarin Martinović.

The Festival of Croatian Children’s Film Creation is the oldest and largest children’s film event in Croatia, taking place this year for the second time concurrently with the Review of Croatian School Film in Varaždin from October 3 to 6, 2024. The organizers are the Croatian Film Association and the Agency for Education and Upbringing, along with the co-organizers Film Creative Studio VANIMA and II. Elementary School Varaždin.

The film “Monster Mobiles” was filmed in Zagreb during the Frooom! film workshop in 2023 and depicts a class whose monstrous mobile phones lead them into a world of violence from which they must escape. The film was created under the mentorship of young actress Lucija Alfier and cinematographer Matej Beluhan, who have collaborated with Shadow Casters for several years, both on Frooom and other projects.

The film was conceived by: Lovro Ivanišević, Ida Kralj, Janko Milasinčić, Tarin Martinović, Viktor Rasol, Vid Klisurić, Agata Bučić Grabić, Rubi Toma Matković.

The cast includes: Lovro Ivanišević, Ida Kralj, Janko Milasinčić, Tarin Martinović, Viktor Rasol, Vid Klisurić, Agata Bučić Grabić, Rubi Toma Matković, Relja Borović, Pavle Perković, and Lucija Alfier.

The mentors: Lucija Alfier and Matej Beluhan.

This year, 260 films from elementary school students were submitted for the Festival, of which 67 works were selected for competition across six categories: 19 animated, 10 documentary, 13 live-action, 11 workshop films, 8 free-style films, and 6 TV reports. The films were selected by film director Dalija Dozet, director Marko Bičanić, and animator Mateja Štefinščak. The best films will be determined by a professional jury composed of Maja Ogrizović, Barbara Rocco, and Čejen Černić Čanak, as well as a children’s jury from II. Elementary School Varaždin.

For the Review, 139 films were submitted, and the state commission selected 30 elementary school and 12 high school works. The expert evaluation committee includes industry professionals, including Ivana Ivančić Medved, Jasminka Ljubić Bijelić, and Dubravka Kalinić Lebinec.
