Shadow Casters, in collaboration with the Cultural and Artistic Center (KUS) and the S.K.U.P. association, is organizing full-day educational workshops focused on film, media, and digital literacy for children aged 8 to 13. The workshops will run from August 28 to September 1, from 8 AM to 4 PM.
About FROOOM!: Since its inception in Zagreb in 2012, FROOOM! has expanded across 6 Croatian counties and 8 cities, including Prelog, Sinj, Koprivnica, Rijeka, Split, Pakrac, and Zagreb, with a period in Opatija as well. It has been recognized by numerous parents, children, journalists, media and film professionals, as well as donors, sponsors, partners, and local authorities for its value and innovation.
FROOOM! is designed primarily for primary school children up to 13 years old (and up to 16 years for master workshops) who have a keen interest in media and film arts. The program successfully stimulates general creativity in children through a developed methodology and provides them with a rich set of social skills that they integrate into their academic or extracurricular activities. The program is integrative and innovative, addressing children’s universal humanistic needs for acquiring a variety of skills and knowledge.
Program Details:
- Location: Cultural and Artistic Center (KUS), Put Petrovca 12, Sinj
- Dates: August 28 – September 1
- Hours: 8 AM – 4 PM
- Details: The workshops will include interactive sessions on film history, film techniques, digital literacy, and hands-on projects.
Activities:
- Film and Media Literacy: Understanding film intent, purpose, and value.
- Hands-On Projects: Building and exploring zoetropes, flip books, and film cameras.
- Digital Media Creation: Using simple animation programs and advanced 3D mapping tools.
- Film Analysis: Daily viewing and discussion of various films and media content.
- Public Screenings: Twice a week, free public matinees at the Sinj City Cinema on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11 AM.

Additional Information:
- Participants will receive a warm meal, additional health protection, and psychological support.
- The program is conducted in Sinj in two levels: beginner (for up to 16 new participants) and advanced (for returning participants from last year).
- The workshops are also being held simultaneously in Prelog and Zagreb.
FROOOM!’s mission is to foster creativity and provide educational opportunities through film and media arts. The organization has received multiple awards and has collaborated with professionals from over 30 countries, executing more than 50 educational, theatrical, and film projects across four continents.
