Shado Casters, FRU and Domino announce the finalists of the open call to participation in Earth Stations:
We received a total of 30 complete project proposals, all of which were of exceptional quality and thoughtful. The jury was faced with the difficult task of selecting finalists, and the process was conducted in two phases of interviewing the artists.
The theme of the first process of “Earth Stations” was in the interdisciplinary combination of the latest communication technology with 3000 years of theatrical tradition and knowledge, and that was the basis of which the projects were selected. They are all interdisciplinary, intermedial and contain performative elements.
A shortlist of a total of 10 international projects was invited to present their ideas and projects, and after a detailed discussion with the artists, the expert jury made the final selection of 5 projects:
1. Josipa Bubaš and co-authors: Tomislav Čuveljak, Dalibor Jakus, Nikolina Rafaj – Telling lies
Using the possibilities of online platforms, this transmedia, interdisciplinary, performance-research project is conceived as an appropriation of the modern phenomenon of post-truth, accompanying false internet identities and the formation of communication models based on them.
2. Igor Zenzerović – In thirds (working title)
The performance takes place in a car, where the performer is the driver. The piece consists of three main elements: a radio program, the process of maneuvering through city streets and white noise manipulation and reproduction.
3. Uroš Ranković, Selena Bačkalić – I cloud
This artistic research is based on the construction of a pirated radio transmitter (within an art installation). The main goal of the research is to find out how the medium will collaborate with theatre itself.
4. Szabolcs Tolnai, (Dimitrije Kokanov), Olga Dimitrijević – Bicycle theatre
The project is a performance for cyclists, through a combination of classic theater and methods taken from pervasive games and drama pedagogy. The stories used for dramatic narratives are connected to the region’s history and mythology.
5. Marija Barna-Lipkovski – “Where is it/ I? – identity in the times of digital communication”
In this performative lecture, the dramatic conflict takes place between different aspects of the personality of the performer-author, between the performer and technology, but also between real and virtual space and time. Communication takes place simultaneously live and through a common chat room.
