Shortlisted projects (10) will be invited to a Zoom talk by October 5th and the final selection of 5 projects will be presented to international media and audience on October 8th; with the first step workshop on October 22-24 in North Macedonia and the second step workshop on December 17-19 in Croatia.

The Earth Stations process of devising intermedia and intercultural performing arts projects will combine the latest communication technologies with the 3000 years of theatre making tradition & know-how. This will happen in 2 steps, each of which comprises of three-day intensive workshop programs, separated by a six-week elaboration and development period. The project applications will undergo a two-step selection process: after the first round of selection, 10 shortlisted projects will be invited to present their ideas and after that, the final selection of 5 projects will be announced.

The five most challenging and innovative project applications will be selected for participation by the international jury and admitted to the process of developing their ideas. All selected projects will be presented to an international audience after the second round of workshops.

Jury: Boris Bakal, Petra Begović (Croatia) & Filip Jovanovski (North Macedonia) with the advisory board of mentors and lecturers: Mia David (Serbia), Zhana Ivanova (Nederland), Bill Aitchison (UK/China), Kristina Lelovac (North Macedonia), Sodja Loteker (Czech Republic), Tomi Janežić (Slovenia), Zvonimir Dobrović (Hrvatska) and others.

About Earth Stations:

Earth Stations pilot project is a hybrid (on- and off-line) devised performance protocol for developing and promoting (producing and distributing) innovative intermedia and intercultural performing art projects. This protocol gives the participating artists the opportunity to develop their projects from concept to the distribution stage, with help from international producers and artistic teams. Projects and production plans, as well as target performance materials, will be questioned, challenged and pushed further through both workshops, lectures (6 in total) and evaluations of development, receiving multi-level feedback from as many points of view as possible.

Earth Stations is both a laboratory of new theatre, as well as a platform for international artistic cooperation. Each participating project will pass two stages of development and will be pitched to a wide audience of international performance art curators, selectors, and producers before the actual production term begins.

What we are looking for:

We seek critical and brave performing art proposals from the EU and the rest of the world, with a special eye on proposals from the Balkan region countries (both Western and Eastern). The project consists of three production and distribution NGOs in the field of performance and intermedia arts which unite to give artists a chance to test all their craziest ideas with the best possible tutors.

Our vision of the world is holistic and respectful to all genders, races and cultures, all while challenging prejudice as well as political and historical revisionism, both in our lives and in the productions we present to audiences worldwide. We encourage applications submitted by trans / women / minorities / LGBTIQA+ and other under-represented individuals and groups.
