As part of FUŠ (Festival of School Arts), Shadow Casters are organizing two free workshops!
The educational program “Between Heritage and Film” by Shadow Casters is designed to engage participants in exploring and understanding cultural and historical heritage through the medium of film. This program emphasizes the importance of both tangible and intangible heritage and encourages a deeper connection between participants and their cultural roots. Through these workshops, participants learn to appreciate and document elements of heritage, thus preserving them for future generations.
Moreover, by exploring and understanding material and immaterial heritage and documenting it through film, potential future resources of local communities are also discovered.

The facilitators guiding you through this cinematic journey are collaborators of Shadow Casters and mostly experienced film professionals.

Mateja Ilijašev is a cinematographer with extensive experience. She has worked on the films “Wildlings” (2022), “Literary Groupie” (2024), and “Counteroffensive” (2017). She will soon become one of the facilitators of the Frooom! film workshops, whose new cycle starts on June 23rd.

Nikola Strašek graduated from the Classical Gymnasium in Zagreb, studied Comparative Literature and Latin at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Film and TV Directing at the Academy of Dramatic Art. Bojana Burnać earned her Master’s degree from the Cinematography Department of the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb. She is a director of photography for feature, documentary, and experimental films, both short and feature-length. She is the first female cinematographer in the history of Croatian cinema to shoot a feature-length fiction film. She also works as an underwater cinematographer. She directed the feature documentary “My Life Without Air”, her directorial debut.
