FILM UPSIDE DOWN: A STONE IN THE POCKET, APRIL 2 AT 11 AM

Written by on 2022-03-29

On Saturday, April 2nd, at 11 AM, we invite you to explore the journey of film creation from the perspective of cinematographers – the directors of photography!

The ninjas of film sets, they combine technical knowledge and artistic skill to transform reality and production conditions for the needs of the film. The film we will watch, “A Stone in the Pocket,” is interesting as an example not only because it is excellently shot but also because of the way it was made. Turning away from the big studio productions that were prevalent in Portugal at the time, the author Joaquim Pinto created a small miracle on a minimal budget, achieving international success that big Portuguese productions could only dream of. The eternal struggle between the big and the small is, ultimately, the theme of this film, as it deals with the secrets and lies of adults through which a boy navigates on his journey to adulthood.

Bojana Burnać, an award-winning director of photography on films of various formats, approaches, and budgets, will share her filmmaking journey with us.

This free film club gathering is intended for all young film enthusiasts aged 12 to 18 who are ready to watch and study films – all upside down! Those over 16 need to have Covid certificates for entry. The gathering lasts from 11 AM to 2 PM.

The film club is part of the EU project CinEd 2.0 and is part of the workshop activities of FROOOM! – the film school for children and youth.

The CinEd 2.0 project is co-financed by the European Union’s Creative Europe MEDIA, the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, the Office for NGOs of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, and the City of Zagreb.
