“Film Upside Down” – Free Year-Round Club Program and Screenings of Top European Films at Tuškanac Cinema Starting October 2

New Year-Round Film Club Program by Shadow Casters and FROOOM! Film School for Children and Youth

In partnership with Tuškanac Cinema and the Croatian Film Association, this program is part of the CinEd 2.0 project and will take place every first Saturday of the month during the 2021/2022 school year.

This free film club gathering is aimed at young film enthusiasts aged 13 to 18 who are ready to watch and study films from an unconventional perspective. Starting on October 2, the sessions will be held at Tuškanac Cinema every first Saturday of the month from 3 PM to 6 PM.

Each three-hour session will feature a screening of a classic or contemporary successful European film by famous or lesser-known but intriguing, award-winning, and relevant directors. The films will explore themes of growing up, finding one’s place in the world, and dealing with planned and unplanned changes—topics that resonate with young people learning about adult life. After watching each film, we will dissect it, change its ending and name, and turn it upside down. This approach reveals everything we miss when we “just watch a film.” The participatory method of Shadow Casters tailors each workshop to the desires, capabilities, and interests of the participants, offering new exercises, quizzes, puzzles, film treasure hunts, and other extreme film experiences!

The title of the film, its awards, the director’s name, genre, and content will remain unknown until the screening.

We will solve the film’s riddles together through a series of fun and creative activities using image and sound, acting and mise-en-scène, individually and in groups.

The “Film Upside Down” club program is entirely free—just show up at the screening!

The film club is part of the EU CinEd 2.0 project and the workshop activities of FROOOM!—a film school for children and youth.
