Two films from Frooom! film forkshop to be screened at the Valparaiso Amateur Film Festival.
The Valparaiso Amateur Film Festival is a new event on the film scene that promotes amateur film productions from around the world. Located in the city of Valparaiso, Chile, the festival provides a platform for self-taught filmmakers and low-budget projects, offering them the opportunity to showcase their talent and creativity to a wider audience. Founded with the idea of promoting diversity and innovation in the film industry, the Valparaiso Film Festival invites participants to submit their short films, documentaries, and other film works. The festival particularly encourages works that reflect authentic and personal stories, emphasizing the importance of fresh perspectives and an independent approach to filmmaking.
Our films from the Frooom! film workshop have found their way to Chile as well. Our Frooom! participants have created two films that will be screened at the festival on September 1st. The first film, “A Day in the Krapina Neanderthal Museum,” was made using stop-motion animation and was completed in June 2022. This film has already been selected once in the official selection of the Film Freeway platform as part of the Cartoon Club Rimini festival. The film was created by participants Petar Borovečki, Franka Ivanjko, Nadja Lončar Uvodić, Parik Halužan, Toma Meštrović, Bartol Zagorec, Vita Bračić, Jana Herceg, Teo Lojić, Ivano Puljko, Matija Lojić, and Vinka Novački, under the mentorship of Maša Udovičić and Dea Jagić.
The second film we are proud of is “Boo,” created by participants Lina Mlinarević, Ana Babić, Karlo Mališ, Petar Mališ, Anja Martha Trupčević, and Ema Mikulić, with the help of their mentors.
Although this is the first time the festival is being held, the organizers’ ambition is for the Valparaiso Film Festival to become an annual event that will gradually grow and attract the attention of the international film community. In addition to film screenings, the festival also plans to organize workshops, panel discussions, and talks with filmmakers, allowing participants and visitors to exchange ideas, gain new knowledge, and find inspiration.
