The educational program “The sky is the limit” is of entertaining, emancipatory, and educational character that offers the generation aged 54+ an opportunity to enter the world of film beyond the standard cinema or TV viewer and creator experience. Participants aged over 54 during the workshops master the contemplation of film and media from multiple perspectives and learn about everything we do not see while watching movies, TV, or having fun with computer games on our computers, tablets, or “smart” phones. Participants study new media and try out all those media means and contents that their children or grandchildren use and enjoy. Through a layered, dynamic, and interdisciplinary process of getting to know various media and technical aids, participants have fun, create new acquaintances, collaborations, and business opportunities, share their stories and interests with other participants, and based on them, with the help of professional leaders, create their authentic film works.
At the introductory level, participants in a simple and direct way through dramatic games find and remember stories from Plato’s cave and the prehistory of film to the meta-film (film about film!). Through perceptual and film exercises and examples, they become aware of the F-effect and the slowness of the eye that makes the film possible, connecting other human creativity with film and media – dance, modeling, painting, acting, writing, sculpture, etc. – and critically analyze presented anthological or latest film and/or media works from multiple perspectives. All under the motto: What we don’t see while watching and consuming film, TV, and media content.
