We invite those who want to listen to the city to join the free interdisciplinary workshop “Whispering Walls,” where researchers and experts from various professions (dramaturgy, architecture, art history, journalism, sociology, film, etc.) teach participants how to observe space from multiple viewpoints, explore visible and invisible choreographies of space and the city they live in, and collect their audiovisual features. In this workshop, participants learn to observe the world around them and understand the city and its spaces as a common resource for all citizens.

The aim of the workshop is to sniff out and document traces of material and intangible urban heritage, uncover its historical and social dynamics and connotations, and connect with specific urban architectural and building heritage. Based on this, participants will design a hypertextual micro tour of a part of Zagreb and take their parents, friends, and other interested fellow citizens on it after the workshop.

This Zagreb peripatetic workshop “Whispering Walls” is dedicated to film and the city. Through a walk around Zagreb, we will pass through various centuries and various films that were shot here and for which the city (Zagreb) was a backdrop or inspiration. Participants will learn about Zagreb’s urbanism, its basic spatial characteristics and configurations (in relation to the geomorphology of the land, the purpose of settlements, the content of buildings, and the political-social paradigm) and learn to recognize urban furniture.
