New Film Adventure in Rijeka and Zagreb!

Dear children and parents,

We invite you to an unforgettable film journey taking place at OŠ dr. Ivana Merza in Zagreb and at Dječja Kuća in Rijeka from February 24th to 28th! Get ready to explore the secrets of film production, scriptwriting, and manipulating images and sound in the magic of editing. This year, we have an exciting program with beginner, advanced, and a new, special masterclass workshop on animated music videos, scriptwriting, and editing!

Our diverse team of professionals – actors, directors, cameramen, editors, and screenwriters – will guide you through this winter adventure full of play, dance, music, and fun. With their help, you’ll discover how the film industry works, and your creativity will explode in a safe and inspiring environment surrounded by your peers. Those who stand out the most with their ideas and creativity will have the opportunity to travel to the Belgian film festival FILEM’ON in October, where our participants (aged 13-17) have previously had the chance to judge films and award prizes for the best films for teenagers.

Beginner Workshop
For all beginners, the Frooom!tastic beginner workshops will be a perfect introduction to the world of film. Here, you will learn, explore, and create short film forms. You will study movement, enter the world of the Camera Obscura, draw and bring your drawings to life, create TV reports, and work on fundamental children’s themes. In this environment, you are all equal and have the same rights, and the only thing you get to choose is – your lunch for each day!

Advanced Workshop
The advanced workshop is for participants older than 10 years who have already completed the beginner workshop. Now you are real little film professionals! You will play with symbolism, explore meanings, the use of color, and expressive tools. Each of you will bring your own idea, and as a group, you will decide which idea will go into production. Together, you will choose locations, actors, and film shots in the way that interests you the most – whether you use bird wings or eat frog legs. With a camera, sound recorder (Zoom), and of course, a special “drone” addition, you’ll create wonders! And when you watch your film on Friday, you’ll definitely want to participate again.

Masterclasses in Zagreb
This year in Zagreb, we are offering special masterclasses on hybrid animation “How to shoot a music video in animated film style” as well as workshops on editing and scriptwriting, where you will learn the essential techniques and tricks needed to create your final product.

Masterclasses in Rijeka
Along with the main Frooom! workshops, Rijeka will host a masterclass on film shooting and scriptwriting, where we will guide participants through the process of creating a film script and the complex and detailed process of choosing shooting methods, framing, color selection, and everything that makes the work of a cinematographer one of the most exciting parts of creating a film.
