The multi-year educational project by Shadow Casters, “Stationary Movement – A Journey Through Film,” has been carried out for three years as part of the program of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia.
The project encompasses the history of the first 13 billion years and one hundred years of film as a complex, multidisciplinary human activity that expresses one of the basic needs of the human species: the need for storytelling, for memory, and for recording.
This time, the education was conducted at the Electromechanical School Varaždin for students specializing in “film and media technicians.” The classes were attended by 24 exceptionally interested and highly motivated students who actively and joyfully participated in exercises, discussions, and film experiments. They were actively joined by their teachers Tibor Bün and Aleksandra Rodeš.
This school is one of the best-equipped schools in Croatia regarding film, television, and radio equipment, and the students, in collaboration with their teachers, produce their own TV, podcast, and radio programs.
The program in Varaždin for students and teachers was conducted by intermedia artist and co-founder of Shadow Casters Boris Bakal, as well as director and screenwriter Paula Skelin.
