“THE SKY IS THE LIMIT” – NEW WORKSHOPS IN ZAGREB!

Written by on 2025-04-07

The Shadow Casters are once again organizing film workshops titled “The Sky is the Limit” for our fellow citizens aged 54 and over. We invite you to register now and secure your spot in the beginner, advanced, and/or master workshops.

Time: From April 28 to June 6 (you can find the detailed schedule at the end of the text or through the REGISTRATION LINK)
Location: Trnjanska Savica Local Board (Vladimira Ruždjaka 21, Zagreb)

Our workshops are intended for those who want to learn more about films, new media, what their children or grandchildren do, and what we don’t necessarily notice when watching films, TV, or playing video games on our computers, tablets, and “smart” phones. Of course, we won’t ask to see your palm or ID, so we will accept people younger than 54 as well, if they want to learn about film and media. However, if there is high demand, priority will be given to retirees and unemployed individuals.

As usual, for all sessions held in the morning (every Monday and Friday), we will provide our participants with a free hot meal.

You can register HERE, but please check if all the dates work for you before registering.

DESCRIPTION

Beginner Workshop
In the beginner workshop, we will learn about plans, shots, film genres, how to write a script, the elements of editing, how to create an animated film, and how to make a report. Additionally, the workshop offers an opportunity to explore new media and try out the media tools and content that engage and entertain young people today. This workshop not only introduces participants to the media and provides the basics of film creation but also serves as an introduction to further education.

Advanced Workshop
It is recommended that participants continue with the advanced workshop after the beginner one. In the advanced workshop, participants, alongside the instructors, develop stories that will be turned into documentary, fictional, or experimental films. They exchange and advocate for the stories and scripts they’ve created, and in the end, after production preparation, turning the script into a shooting schedule, selecting locations and main characters, they will shoot the film and prepare it for editing.

Master Workshop
This is the culmination of our six-week gathering. Usually, during the master workshops, instructors adjust to the participants and their interests, which emerge during the first two workshops. The topics of the master workshops can vary, depending on the interests of the participants, and may include scriptwriting, editing, acting in films and theater, costume design, directing, animated films, the Internet and media, and VJ-ing.

NOTE
If you have already attended our workshops, you can re-register for the entire cycle, from beginner to master, or you can start from the middle of the cycle. Our recommendation is to register for the whole cycle because each workshop brings something new, a new group of filmmakers, and always sparks new ideas.

PLEASE CHECK IF THE SCHEDULE SUITS YOU BEFORE REGISTERING!
