FrançaisThe Shadow Casters Association in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County has combined the large European CinEd project with its high-quality Frooom! interdisciplinary film school for children and youth. They held screenings and workshops related to films from the rich CinEd collection of European films for children and youth, in partnership with KINO.hr and Radar d.o.o.
Two film workshops were held on September 21 in Mrkopalj (KINO.hr Mrkopalj), two on September 27 in Lič (KINO.hr Lič), and one on September 29 in Vrbovsko (KINO.hr Vrbovsko). Students from local primary schools watched carefully selected films from the collection and participated in a workshop with a series of creative, practical, and fun activities to analyze the viewed films.
CinEd is a European program for education about and through film for children and youth, involving systematic training of teachers and film educators who work with them. It provides free access to a collection of selected heritage and arthouse European films for educational purposes. Intended for children and youth aged 6 to 18, as well as teachers and educators both inside and outside the school system, CinEd aims to develop a lasting interest in and knowledge of European cinema among young people, foster their critical thinking and creative sensitivity, and contribute to general education through the application of film, while raising awareness of European cultural diversity. The project is co-funded through Creative Europe MEDIA.
FROOOM! is a creative educational program with an entertaining character that has been offering children and youth the opportunity to enter the world of film beyond the standard cinema or TV viewing experience since 2012.
The workshops were also beneficial for teachers, as they could not only watch films from the collection but also learn how to use the platform cined.eu/hr, which provides numerous high-quality European films and pedagogical tools for free. They engaged in a series of creative, practical, and fun activities that they can use in working with children and youth to interest them in quality films and introduce them to the so-called viewing culture.
