Review of a year of watching films and dreaming: thank you from the Film Labyrinth!

Written by on 2023-06-14

In May 2023, the Film Labyrinth project for adults over 54 years old was successfully completed. It’s an educational-artistic concept of media, film, IT, and informational literacy through film screenings and workshops organized by the Association Bacači sjenki, which uniquely combines film screenings and thematic discussions in an engaging way for adults. The past year has been filled with fantastic films, dedicated participants, and inspiring collaborators. Through Boris Bakal’s vision, we created the Film Labyrinth platform with the help of Aleksandar Gavrilović, engaging in interactive workshops and exploring a diverse selection of Croatian films. We discussed them in interactive online workshops with fantastic facilitators Karlo Vorih, Veno Mušinović, Uroš Živanović, Paula Skelin, and Mirna Ostrošić.

A total of 45 workshops were held in seven cycles (three thematic cycles repeated) from October 2022 to May 2023. The program involved a total of 115 participants from across Croatia.

The films screened during the workshops were generously provided by HRT, Kinorama, Propeler Film, Croatian.film, Croatian Film Association, Croatian Film Archive, Antitalent, and all the authors of the wonderful Croatian films we watched during the project.

  • Kino Lika, Metastases i What Is a Man Without a Moustache? u ciklusu Ivane Bodrožić
  • Sin, Zvir, Tlo pod nogama, Quit Staring at My Plate i Matriarch u ciklusu Monike Herceg
  • What Iva Recorded, Vis-À-Vis i A Letter to My Father u ciklusu Borisa Vukovića

As a significant help to the project leader Hana Juranović in all announcements, radio, and television appearances, Ivan Mikulić from Bez stresa was invaluable, and the excellent project logo was designed by Igor Kolar.

Throughout the seven cycles, we thank everyone who helped us by sharing posts and announcements, all surprise guests who joined us at the workshops, and especially collaborators in conducting some of the cycles: Teatar od soli Association, KGZ – Augusta Cesarca Library, and KGZ – Medveščak Library.

To our excellent participants, a total of 115, we thank you for your active engagement and enthusiasm. You made this journey through the film labyrinth truly special.

Follow our upcoming projects and join us on future cinematic journeys. Let’s continue to celebrate the magic of film together!
